Knowledge, techniques and materiality

Here you'll find all the research relating to knowledge, techniques and materiality carried out at CNRS Humanities & Social Sciences and its laboratories.

Theoretical and practical knowledge is at the core of the research conducted by several InSHS laboratories using a broadly multidisciplinary approach and working in conjunction with a number of other CNRS Institutes, particularly CNRS Biology, CNRS Chemistry, CNRS Physics and CNRS Earth & Space. The research focuses on several different subjects including: the delimitation of knowledge (natural sciences, human and social sciences, technosciences, etc.); interplay between individual and collective stakeholders; learning and mediation methods; production methods and contexts; methodologies; material translations and representations; the circulation of knowledge, science and technology, their use in public policy-making and the many ways in which they are received. To sum up, whether this research involves anthropology, the cultural and social history of knowledge, science and technology, linguistic, philosophical or sociological approaches or the economic, legal or political dimension it covers a wide range of areas and periods.
