OpenEdition

OpenEdition is a complete electronic publishing infrastructure for scientific communication in the humanities and social sciences.

The OpenEdition portal is international in scope and includes four platforms for scientific communication in the humanities and social sciences: OpenEdition Journals (the journals), OpenEdition Books (the collections of books), Hypotheses (the research notebooks) and Calenda (the announcements of international academic events).

Thus, this portal constitutes a space dedicated to the transfer of research, by publishing tens of thousands of scientific documents that promote open access. Meanwhile, it respects the economic balance of the publications.

OpenEdition has been a national research infrastructure since 2016. It is a nonprofit-making public initiative supported by major research institutions, whose main mission is the promotion of open access electronic publishing. It is also part of the National Plan for Open Science. In 2012, it was labelled "Investments for the Future." The main missions of OpenEdition are the development of open access electronic publishing, the dissemination of uses and skills related to electronic publishing, research and innovation around methods of information enhancement and research induced by digital technology.

The OpenEdition team is made up of more than 50 people attached to the CNRS, EHESS, Aix-Marseille University or Avignon University. The members of staff work at one of two sites, in Marseille or in Paris.

OpenEdition is a service and research unit that is currently directed by Marie Pellen. Pierre Mounier is the deputy director.
